Latino Summit
For almost two decades, students from Maine East and Maine West have attended the Latino Summit, which inspires freshmen and sophomore Latino/Hispanic high school students to continue with their education by exposing them to current college Latino students and Latino professionals who serve as role models. For more information on the Latino Summit, please visit their website.
In 2009, the Maine 207 Foundation received the first grant application for the Latino Summit, and it has proudly supported these students with grants to defray costs of attending the Latino Summit each year since then. |
"As first generation college students, many of our Latino students need these professionals and college students as role models. We hope to motivate the students to continue to stay in school and set goals beyond high school. We also would like to increase the number of Latino students who apply to colleges and universities... The Latino Summit Program will not be possible without the generous contributions of our supporters such as The Maine 207 Educational Foundation. We want to open this opportunity to all students regardless of their ability to pay... We could not have done this event without your generous support."
